2008_nationals

* Commenced training, age 13 years, Papatoetoe Club in 1996 under initial Instructors Mr Sam Clark and Mr Kane Raukura. Obtained 1st degree black belt, aged 17 years, whilst studying medicine at Otago University in 2000.

Trained under a number of great Instructors whilst travelling around NZ to complete my medical degree, including Wellington, Hawkes Bay and currently based permanently in Auckland since 2005. Obtained 4th degree at aged 24 years in Rotorua, 2008.

* Opened Tamaki Club in 2006 with younger sister, Chanthie

* Currently based at our own full-time training centre in Mt Wellington.

Developing the youth through the art of Taekwon-Do has been particularly rewarding for me.

Actively involved in most ITFNZ events and hope to see great things happen in our Community in the near future!

* Success in a number of tournaments both nationally and internationally. Competed at the Poland World Championships 2003 – for 2nd Dan patterns and microweight sparring. Success at the International Taekwon-Do Australian Open in 2003 including 1st in 2nd Dan patterns and power, 3rd in microweight sparring. Canada World Championships 2007 – individual competitor for 3rd Dan patterns and 3rd in team patterns and team special technique.

* Nominated Dan Student of the Year 2004 and New Zealand Instructor of the Year 2006.
