Ah, very true.
I'd better get stuck in now if I hope to grade. Grading also happens to be around the same time as my exams so now is the time!

I'll try to spend some time working on my technical stuff too. Thanks ;)

EDIT:

Miscalculation. Grading's late August so I'll be sweet. Nonethlesss, will still work on technical.

Anyone that feels a bucket of chicken... or a bucket of anything, for that matter, is an adequate nutritional intake is sorely mistaken.

Yes. You you did.

I forgot to mention stretching. I'm up to 50 push-ups right now.
I don't see myself dieting. That line about the chicken was targetted at someone wasn't it?

I find that in terms of training at home you get the best results when you criticize your problem areas and really train with particular goals in mind.

So to raise my general fitness I try to squeeze in a run before I go to work. 5:00am can be a pretty brutal time to get up for a run but once I'm out there with my tunes it's all good. Plus you feel a refreshment throughout the rest of the day. I also try to squeeze in around 30-40 push-ups for general upperbody strength (half of which I perform on knuckles on hardwood floor, for breaking training). After that comes sit ups 60-80 regular (or in a pilates-esque style) & 30-40 each side, this builds the abdominal muscles and results in a stronger core giving us better balance.

Stretching is crucial, in Taekwon-Do, therefore I like to have really long progressive stretching sessions. I tend to start with the obvious suspects (a lot of inflexibility in legs stems from the hips) with split stretching; both horizontal and vertical, moving on to butterfly stretching, hamstring stretches; either leg then both (seated or standing). Then continue up the body stretching the parts of the body you will be using.

Think outside the square, if you need help with stretching or just want to improve your general flexibilty try yoga (btw if anyone's interested in doing a bit of yoga, i'm looking for a class so if you wanna join me you're more than welcome just lemme know). If you want to broaden your knowledge of Taekwon-Do in New Zealand or want to possibly learn other techniques, attend a class or 2 at a different dojang (upon prior approval of both Dr. Thu Thach and the Head Instructor of the club to be visited, of course). You're only limited by your imagination.

When it comes to any training 2 very important factors which can't neglected are DIET and REST!!!
Your body like a lot of other things in nature has a threshold of effective training. If you train all 7 days of the week and never give your body a chance to repair itself you could be leading yourself on the path of injury. Similarly if you train particularly hard but have an inbalanced diet you could end up becoming quite ill. It's easy to eat right to accompany your training, it just takes a little thought. That doesn't mean starve yourself, like the ad says.. everythng in moderation including moderation. You can have that piece of chicken once-in-a-while, just don't finish the whole bucket.

And the most important thing with club or extra training,.. give it your best, all the time. If you're having an 'off day', work with someone who can and will push you the extra distance. It's amazing how a little extra exertion can improve your mood drastically, and help you grow not only on a physical martial arts level but also on a social and personal level.

Woah did I rant or what?!
Let's see some other member's posting, please!

What kind training do you do at home?

Here you can mooche ideas from other people to help you train at home!

I usually do :

80 side crunches (each side)
80< sit-ups/crunches
Push-ups till I can't anymore (which'll only be about 30 or so XD)
Holding sidekick and making figure 8s (at 30 right now, slowly improving) with it then pulling back (not putting leg down) then repeating 2 more times. Done every morning and night.
Some other stuff which I cannot recall at the moment.

Most of that is done 2-3 days a week. Crunches will probably be more like 4-5 days a week and the figure 8s are done twice every day. In the weekend I will repeat all that about 3 times.

Any constructive criticism is welcome. Don't forget to post your own workout!
